Controller Drift Test

Test your game controller for analog stick drift. Detect if your joysticks move on their own without being touched.

🎮

Connect a controller and press any button. Do NOT touch the sticks.

How does this test work?

A controller drift test monitors your analog sticks when they are not being touched. If the stick position drifts away from center, your controller has stick drift — a common issue caused by worn potentiometers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What causes controller drift?+

Stick drift is caused by wear on the analog stick potentiometers, dust, or debris inside the mechanism. It is common on heavily used controllers.

Can stick drift be fixed?+

Sometimes cleaning around the stick base with compressed air or contact cleaner helps. Adjusting the deadzone in game settings can compensate. For severe drift, the stick module needs replacement.
